Gift List Guru (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates the website giftlist.guru and the Gift List Guru Chrome extension (together, the “Service”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.
Information we collect
Account information
When you sign up, we collect your name, email address, and profile picture from your Google account or the email address you use to sign in via magic link. This is used solely to identify your account and enable sharing features.
Gift lists and items
We store the gift lists you create, including list titles, occasion dates, interests, descriptions, and the gift items you add (names, URLs, and images). This data is necessary to provide the core service.
Sharing data
When you share a list, we store the email addresses of the people you share with and their reservation status. We send email notifications to these addresses on your behalf.
Chrome extension
The Gift List Guru Chrome extension reads the title, URL, and main image of the web page you are viewing, but only when you actively click the extension icon. This data is sent to our servers solely to add the item to your gift list. The extension stores a single authentication token locally on your device. We do not collect browsing history, track your activity, or access any page data without your explicit action.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how the Service is used. This collects anonymised usage data such as pages visited, time on site, and device type. No personally identifiable information is shared with Google Analytics.
How we use your information

Affiliate links and product suggestions
Gift suggestions and product browsing features may include affiliate links. When you click through and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. This helps fund the Service. Product data is sourced from our retail partners and displayed within the app. We do not sell your personal data to advertisers or third parties.
Data sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share data only in the following limited circumstances:
- → With people you share lists with — they can see the list title, items, and occasion date. They cannot see your email address unless you share it directly.
- → Service providers — we use Vercel (hosting), Neon (database), Resend (email delivery), and Google (authentication). These providers process data on our behalf under their own privacy policies.
- → Legal requirements — we may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
Data retention
We retain your account data and gift lists for as long as your account is active. Archived lists and items are retained for historical reference unless you delete them. If you delete your account, all associated data (lists, items, shares, reservations, and email aliases) will be permanently removed.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
